Why Shootout... failed to shoot out 'True Rumours'?
Shootout at Lokhandwala. An apt title for even more aptly directed movie. But alas, it is still a motion film. A staging of a real event and not the reality, as opposed to its claims. The director, Apura Lakhia tried hard to be neutral to the chain of events that took place in A002, Svati building, Lokhandwala on 16th November 1991. But failed to my dismay and succmbed to leave an imprint of his own perceived opinion of the events. At the end he sets out to prove his counsel Mr. S S Khan (A A Khan in real life) not guilty. Well thats not what I wanted to see in it. There was plenty in the newspaper on Mr A A Khan's version if I ever cared for that. One of the charges on the ATS thinktank was of his links with the 'bhai' in Dubai. This was conveniently dodged by the director.
